The green hair's one of those Plot Points that'll actually matter a great deal later - but at the moment, nobody else is in a position to notice it so there's no point in focusing on it.

The static in panel one? I finally got done pissing around with noise/mosaic wankery in photoshop and captured a minute or so of a blank VHS tape. If there's a better way to scare up good-looking static, I'm not aware of it.
